Could we use the removed bearings again? Recycling?

Posted by Edison Yang on

No matter what type of equipment it is, it should be regularly overhauled and inspected. Many people will question whether the removed bearings can still be used?
During the regular maintenance, operation inspection and replacement of peripheral parts of the equipment, it is necessary to carefully investigate and record the appearance of the bearing to judge whether the removed bearing can be used again. In order to find out and investigate the residual amount of lubricant, the bearing should be cleaned better after sampling.
Check the condition of the raceway surface, rolling surface and mating surface, as well as the wear state of the cage for damage and abnormalities. Moreover, after considering the degree of bearing damage, machine performance, importance, operating conditions, inspection cycle, etc., we can decide whether the bearing can be reused or replaced. If the bearing is found to be damaged or abnormal, find out the cause and formulate countermeasures. If there are the following defects, the bearing can no longer be used and needs to be replaced with a new one.
1) Any one of the inner and outer rings, rolling elements and cages has cracks and debris.
2) Any one of the inner and outer rings and rolling elements has peeling.
3) The raceway surface, retaining edge and rolling element are significantly jammed.
4) The cage is seriously worn or the rivets are loose.
5) The raceway surface and rolling element are rusty and scarred.
6) There are significant indentations and scratches on the rolling surface and rolling element.
7) There is creep on the inner diameter surface of the inner ring or the outer diameter of the outer ring.
8) Overheated and discolored badly.
9) The sealing ring and dust cover of the grease sealed bearing are seriously damaged.
The inspection items during operation include rolling sound, vibration, temperature, lubrication status, etc. the specific conditions are as follows:
1、 Rolling sound of bearing
Use a sound detector to check the size and sound quality of the rolling sound of the running bearing. Even if the bearing has slight peeling and other damage, it will produce abnormal sound and irregular sound, which can be distinguished by the sound detector.
2、 Vibration of bearing
Bearing vibration is very sensitive to bearing damage, such as spalling, indentation, rust, crack, wear, etc., which will be reflected in bearing vibration measurement. Therefore, by using a special bearing vibration meter (frequency analyzer, etc.), the magnitude of vibration can be measured, and the specific abnormal situation can be inferred from the frequency. The measured values vary according to the service conditions of the bearing or the installation position of the sensor, so it is necessary to analyze and compare the measured values of each machine in advance to determine the judgment standard.
3、 Temperature of bearing
Usually, the temperature of the bearing begins to rise slowly with operation, and reaches a stable state after 1-2 hours. The normal temperature of the bearing varies with the heat capacity, heat dissipation, speed and load of the machine. If the lubrication and installation parts are appropriate, the bearing temperature will rise sharply, and abnormal high temperature will occur. At this time, the operation must be stopped and necessary preventive measures must be taken. Using the thermal sensor, the working temperature of the bearing can be monitored at any time, and the automatic alarm or stop when the temperature exceeds the specified value can be realized to prevent the occurrence of combustion shaft accidents.

Modern mechanical equipment is almost all equipment that requires a lot of money. The purchase, maintenance and use of equipment are very expensive. The economic benefits of equipment management are urgently needed. Through the daily maintenance and repair of equipment, we can reduce the physical wear and tear of equipment and reduce the maintenance costs and other abnormal expenses within the life cycle of equipment.
